Angry Bloody litter bugs!

I work for my local countryside service and today we did a litter pick with afew volunteers on barkby dunes, Prestatyn. Barkby is home to a re-introduced sand lizard colony and has a number of other herp spp. naturally occuring. In a crisp packet I found a common lizard that was luckily alive, I then began checking water filled crisp packets just encase - I found a dead young male sand lizard - it was really gutting, it had obviously got trapped and drowned .
All together in 2 hours we filled 15 bin bags of litter - it's disgusting. Sorry to rant but people should know when they go out the possible damage to native fauna they cause by dropping litter.

i agree with you. in our family we are NOT litter bugs - my kids like me were brought up to dispose of lite in bins provided. Why people do it is beyond me.

Glad you managed to save something well done!

One of my pet hates is litter bugging.
When we go fishing there is ALWAYS line dumped on the banks, so before we settle down to fish me and Dad clear it. It's not fair on the ducks/ wading birds.

Sally we have ‘’indigenous’’ peoples to this continent that think it’s their culture never to use a Dust bin.
I watch people drop plastic and other trash without even a thought and when confronted act as if you are over reacting.

I have the same problem as sally1 nearly every time i go fishing I have to clear up behind the last person, plastic bags being the major culprit as well as luncheon meat tins etc.
