Thumbs up Hypo Panamanian litter...sort of.

Although it's the first ever litter of it's kind in the US I was hoping for a little better result. In May of 2005 I bought the first shipment of Boas that was imported from Panama since the early 90's. There were 60 boas total and I kept the 7 baby reverse striped hypos that were in it. I bred them together this season and today one of the females had 15 slugs and 1 baby...who I have named Marley...after the song One Love. Get it? One love...one baby boa?

Anyway I would like to go into the history books with a more historic litter but this is my first time producing BCI so just one baby will have to do...

Marley

Nice!!! So, I don't understand why it's the first litter in the US. Are you saying that there has never been Panamanian salmon litter before? I am lost and trying hard to learn....

Hey McKinsey,

The salmon boas all stem from a single hypo Panamanian boa bred to a colombian boa...they are not pure Panamanian but a cross. This breeding was 100% pure hypo Panamanian to 100% pure hypo Panamanian. The females are about 5 feet long and what is called a Salmon boa may reach 10 feet long because of the Colombian influence.

All of my hypo Panamanians are also reversed striped but obviously I need more breeding trails to see if the reverse striping is genetic. I have another female due anyday now so maybe she will have some live babies...

Marley is lovely! It's such a shame that the slugs didn't develop, but at least you've got one baby. Keep us posted on the other female, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Awesome Matt- thanks so much for schooling me and now I get it. Cool. I love learning!
Marley is an awesome name and 'one love' is an awesome way of being.
I have a 'one love' kid myself. Here's Chase:
