Default Wallabies?

Hi all
Does anybody have any experience or knowledge in keeping wallabies? I have always liked wallabies and would love to own one. I have seen some that are going to be available around august time so I’m guessing that the best time of year to get a youngster. I wont be ready for one this year but hopefully if I can gather as much info on these I will be for the august 2009 babies.
If I were to get one around that time of year would it be fully weaned or does it mean they are fully furred but would still require bottle feeding.
Also, can they be kept indoors, we have a very large garden but have seen a lot of people keep skunks and other animals indoors, so am wondering if wallabies can as well.
And can they live on there own, or do they need a friend.

Firstly, exactly what species of Wallaby would you be looking to keep? Due to the fact that a number of Macropods require you to be in possession of a valid DWA License

I only found out you could keep them as pets probably last summer. My mum and dad are realy keen on the idea of a wallaby as well, which is good

Just an update as I haven't been on here for a while. I have decided now not to get a wallaby as I have been doing research and they are very proneto a disease called toxoplasmosis (sp) that is commonly carried by cats, and as we live right next to a farm that has loads of wild cats (so more likely to have it) that are always coming into our garden, I don't think it would be fair to get one, so no wallaby for me

They aren't the easiest to keep, i know my friend has a red one and his mom has the proper licesnes you have to have here in the states, and its not the friendlies animal, it is but it isnt, it will bite sometimes and will "box" and kick you. they are wild a nimals the same, and should be respected that way. ...I'd love to have one myself, but they aren't cheap to feed, and (they love sweet potatoes)
