Merlin has gone on hunger strike and I have no idea why. Temps are ok and I have put in more hides. He is healthy and sheds etc.
He obviously feels threatened as his viv smells musky. He was on small mice. Its over a month now since he ate. I have kept handling to a minimum and I don't believe he has self brumated due to the fact he is active.
Have tried everything. Any tips?

hi my peublan milksnake does this, this time every year. last year he stopped feeding for 4 months. he became very active but just ignored food. i think its something to do with the time of year and the weather outside.

could be one of 2 tings he is burmating a bit like they do or he is after a female and in mating season. that could well be the reason he is very active but off food.

Dont panic if he dont eat for a month or so its quite normal.
Just leave him be and see how he goes

Quite a few of my adult snakes go off food this time of year

my royal didn't eat for 2 months and as soon as i got him noming again he sheds and won't eat GRRRR!!!!!

normally king would be coming out of brumation this time of year and each sex will only have one thing on their minds,males will be thinking of breeding and females will be concentrating on feeding in preparation for breeding.
