Default Help Needed !!!!

I have been treating my 2 month old royal python for mites

The vet has confirmed that its mites and gave me frontline spray to swab on the scales.

I got advise on another forum to soak him in a mix of 50% listerene / 50% warm water for 5 - 7 mins

I done this tonight and since i took him out of the water he is breathing ok but has took him approx 2 hours to start moving and is only moving slightly

Is it possible the water maybey being to cold made him go into a hybernated sate

how warm was the water in which you bathed him for and for how long?

We treated a skink for mites and found that a bit of olive oil in the water works wonders as not only is it natural but it drowns the mites and kills them.

then using kitchen towl rubbing down the animal from front to back to remove excess mites! bath every 2-3 days and it got rid of a load and i treated everything else with mite off and the animal itself and within a week they had all gone

that seems a very high concentration of lysterine too!

The water was warm to the touch and he was only in for 5 minuest

He is up and about now this morning so im thinking maybe hes went into a hibernated state
But i wont be puting him in that solution again i got a fright when i saw him like that last night
im going to keep a close eye on him to make sure he is 100 % ok nd jst treat him with the frontline supplied from the vets nd keep disinfecting his viv with the reptile disinfectant spray

one other thing you can do for his home is clean with Surgical Spirit.

Use either neat or with water. this is what i do:
Spray tank with surgical spirit - clean with paper towel, let it dry, then clean with paper towel and VERY HOT water.
Also do same with any furniture.
Some say freeze to kill of mites - ive also heard that mites cannot live below 65 desgrees.
Once smell has dissipated from tank you can then put reptile back in tank.
This works well for me when my Lizard and Burm had mites. But i also used Provent A Mite - sorry its hard to get in the UK but i found it on ebay- its about £20 per tin but works.

Hope the above helps
Linny
