Establishing dominance
Can anyone tell me where i can get some very good info on how to establish dominance over your dog?
He's not a problematic dog, in fact he's a very submissive dog. But i believe he is confused as to who is in charge. I get some submissive behavior from him, and also see signs that he thinks he's in charge. Though he's never aggressive.
He will roll over for me and he does often 'submissively pee' when he thinks i'm going to shout at him when in fact i just want to fuss him. Though i often see his hackles raised, they're raised 90% of the time, not for other dogs, not to say "There's a threat!" but when he wants to pee, when he marches up to me, when he's playing, when he's about to eat, when he's called... practically every day things require his hackles raised lol. He will issue his voice at me regularly when he's feeling energetic and ready for play. And he'll often not listen to commands, though i have trained him and he knows what 'bed' and 'sit' means, when i issue those commands he'll often give me a stance as if daring me to command him again.
I would prefer to solve these issues now while he's still young (just under 2yrs) rather than have problems as he gets older. I want a confident and obedient dog.
I would appreciate either some very useful web links, or if anyone on here can help me, that would be great.
