Default Baby Beardie Died :(

I just wondered if anyone could help me. One of my bearded dragons died yesterday and he was only a couple of months old. He was about 2 maybe 3 inches but lately he got really ill, he would not eat or drink anything. He got really skinny and would not move. He became very lathargic and he rarely moved about his tank. Could there be any reason for this bearing in mind he was a runt when he was born. Many thanks Jade.

it could well be nature taking its course, the only way you would really know is by getting a post mortom done from a reptile vets.

What was your set up like? temps and stuff and UV? might give an indication to if it was environmental

if it was the runt of the litter then it may well have been ill when it was born. as said if you can give us some indication of how you had your tank set up we may be able to help you for the future.
Tems, lights - distance between uv and lizard, what food, water did you supply and what size food, did you give calcium
all these can contribute to either a healthy or unhealthy dragon.
but as said if you really want to know you will need a PM done from a reptile specialist vet - that will give you all the info you need and may help if there was anything you did do wrong.

R.I.P little guy
i didcovered a dead baby at a rep shop, had been looking awful past few weeks i'd been there, but it wasn't the shops fault it was just a runt
was sad for a while, but it would have been ripped to peices by the bigger ones in the wild, a log had fallen on it's head, so at least it wwent quickly instead of slowly starving.

thanks for getting back to me. the temperature in the viv is between 25 and 30 degress. the subtrate is sand, they have bogwood in there, water, they are being fed on small/medium locust/crickets , a big of green every now and then, calcium from the pet shop shaken over their food, the tank was sprayed with water so they could get this off of the wood. i dont know what else to say but he was really small and he was the runt when we got them. any ideas ???

hi Jade, could just be that he was the runt and very weak. he could have had a n illness that he was born with that you didnt know. But hey sounds like you did everything right so nothing you did. Dont beat your self up about it - unfortunately these things happen i know ive see a few babies not make it for one reason or another even ones id brought home to care for.
