Default Lighting Question

Does anyone know whether running a 100W spotlight on a dimmer stat in a warm room in summer, which means that the bulb dims, actually shortens the working life of the bulb?

I could do to pick up some 60W bulbs really I know (I usually do use 60's in summer and 100's at other times) but, they should last more than a couple of weeks! The same bulbs in vivs requiring higher temps last a lot longer, hence my wondering that running them at lower voltage causes them to wear out quicker. :vdontknow:

Is this the case, or just a coincidence? A trip down to B&Q for some "summer" bulbs this weekend I reckon! :vwink:

My dad reckons it should make the bulbs last longer as they're under less strain.

As it turns out, the bulb works okay, it's just too hot! It's 28C in the kitchen with the backdoor and windows open.
