i decided to make another fake background and some hides for my uromastyx geyri I'm getting after Christmas

here is how i made them

firstly i cut my polystyrene to size and used toothpicks to stick them all together




then i used a lighter to burn the polystyrene into shape




then i filled any gaps with some expanding foam and left to dry.

then i started the grout process

first layer was very runny so it filled all the little gaps and holes

i used a paintbrush for this bit



then i left this to dry overnight

the following day i gave it another coat with some Grey grout (rapid set)

once this was dry i used some white grout and gave this another 2 coats (2 days)





then i started the PVA / sand process




make sure you cover everything, and there is no polystyrene or grout visable

in total i gave this

2 coats of rapid set grout
2 coats of white grout
2 layers of red exo Terra sand
2 layers of children's play sand (top layers)
PVA glued together
