to be honest it created the rocky look i was going for, so i was made up,

it was harder to grout but i made the first couple of coats very watery so it defiantly went inside all the groves

Out of interest, did you get ready-mixed or powdered grout? I got the ready-mixed (from B&Q) and it was pretty thick.

rapid set powdered mate, that way i could add more water if needed,

You could probably do it with the ready-mixed but, with the powder, you can prepare it exactly how you want it, and in small enough quantities for it not to go off. I just kept putting some of the ready-mixed into a plastic tub - it does start setting pretty quick, so best to top up little and often.

Fair point!

The grout was applied by hand with yellow play sand rubbed into it before allowing it to dry - the red sand is from the hyperactive collareds going mad!
