Not alot of shops stock DWA's but many can order them for you on request, failing that classified adds are a good place for buying. Have you had your vet check yet? Any idea what you want to keep yet?

whats the price of a licence and all the added extra in your area. ive been told it depends on where you live ( like a post code lottery) as to how much your yearly fees are after your initial 1st licence and all the checks etc. what sort of licence you getting will it be for any dwa or do you have to specify. I know they come to vet your home and make sure you have all the necessary things in place and a secure locked enclosure etc.

In Cornwall it works out roughly £1300 a year including your insurance, its cheaper down here just to get a PSL with DWA entitlement as thats only just over £300 a year. The higher fees are meant to discourage DWA keeping but there is a new legislation coming in soon to stop this happening, it should come into effect before October so it may work out cheaper for you.

i think the same price should be across the board and not differ depending on where you live. here i believe its quite expensive - about double cornwalls!

I Hope you know what you doing, i mean it is not THAT dangerous to keep a baby crocodilian but think about venomous snakes (NOT HOGNOSES AND GARTERS) i mean vipers n adders if your planning to buy them, JUST BE CAREFUL this can kill you

TBH though, without trying to sound like i'm egging you on as i'm sure you will be very carefull there has never been a death from a non-native venomous species in this county, statistics say that 50% of DWA keepers don't even have a licence. The licencing criteria needs to be strict, on the other hand the prices need to be fair then all these keepers would not be keeping without licences. The council of one county actualy got done for a breach of human rights when they denied a keeper a DWAL the keeper kept them anyway and told them he was going to do so as they had no good reason for denying him a licence then he won in court

very interesting!
from the few DWA's if seen the prices of the reps in question are quite cheap compared to other reps - but its the licence fee that tends to put people off buying them as well as other things im sure. I feel not only should the licence be a fair price but if they upped the price of DWA items then people would maybe take it more seriously. But as they are so cheap people want them coz they think its cheap rep
The waglers viper we have in shop and the caiman were cheap compared to say the Rhino Iggy and Emerald Tree Monitor. OK so owner got them at trade prices but the waglers viper was cheaper than say a baby corn for you and me to buy.
I know Dave Flames has got rattlers in ih shop in essex
