Default Wood Shavings, Bad for tortoises??

Hello,
Ive heard that wood shavings are bad for tortoises? i use it for Hizzy does that harm him? or is that whole thing not true?

i think is to do with it being pine shavings as the scent is toxic.

aspen would be fine for tortoises, or a mixture of soil and sand

there are many herbifloor types available too these are grass pellets.

i know people to use beech chips too.

we use beech chips for our large leopard tortoise and repti turf ( pellets) or corn cobs for smaller torts

I use newspaper for both my tortoises but will be changing them to Sand/Soil Mix in the future
