I work for my local countryside service and today we did a litter pick with afew volunteers on barkby dunes, Prestatyn. Barkby is home to a re-introduced sand lizard colony and has a number of other herp spp. naturally occuring. In a crisp packet I found a common lizard that was luckily alive, I then began checking water filled crisp packets just encase - I found a dead young male sand lizard - it was really gutting, it had obviously got trapped and drowned

.
All together in 2 hours we filled 15 bin bags of litter - it's disgusting. Sorry to rant but people should know when they go out the possible damage to native fauna they cause by dropping litter.
